Freeway closures on westbound Interstate 10 in downtown and west Phoenix, combined with entertainment events in the Glendale area, will make for slow travel this weekend.

Doug Nintzel with the Arizona Department of Transportation said Interstate 10 will be closed at the Interstate 17 stack and several miles west of that for freeway projects.

“The farther you travel away from the I-10 westbound closures both downtown and to the west of I-17, the smoother the travel will be,” he said.  

Nintzel recommends using Loop 101 and surface streets to bypass the closures that began Friday.
