Scottsdale School District Appoints Interim Chief Financial Officer
The Scottsdale Unified School District appointed Doug Virgil as interim Chief Financial Officer at a meeting Thursday.
The retired school administrator has more than 23 years of experience, according to a press release from the district.
Online, he’s listed as the former Assistant Superintendent For Business Services at the Alhambra Elementary School District in Phoenix.

SUSD’s former head of finance in the district stepped down last month amid an investigation into conflict of interest.
Laura Smith had a stake in a consulting firm that did business with the district. An investigation from an outside attorney found she did not fully disclose her conflict of interest and continued to sign off on paperwork related to the firm.
The governing board said they plan to post the job by the end of the month.
