Sweater weather has finally arrived. The cooler weather and rain is, for some, a welcome departure from the above average temperatures we had over the winter.

Austin Jamison, with the National Weather Service in Phoenix, said temperatures will stay below normal Wednesday and Thursday.

Over the weekend, northern Arizona and possibly the east central mountains have a chance for precipitation.

After that, put the sweaters away: temperatures in the Phoenix-area will be above average next week.

"We’re looking at 72 next Monday, then 76 Tuesday, 78 Wednesday of next week," Jamison said. "So we’ll definitely be changing toward an above normal pattern."

Jamison said the average temperature for this time of year is 73.

As for March, don’t get your hopes too high. Jamison said the Climate Prediction Center is forecasting warmer-than-average temperatures for the month.
