Mexican Federal Police traveled to Tombstone to coordinate with the U.S. Border Patrol on security efforts, detecting threats and medical triage.

Summers in the Sonoran Desert regularly see temperatures above 104 degrees, and law enforcement on both sides of the border have to train for the specific challenges summertime emergency calls present. 

This is part two of the preparation — last month U.S. agents trained in Nogales, Mexico on on heat-related first-aid techniques and how to respond to 911 calls.

Tucson Sector Chief Patrol Agent Rodolfo Karisch said the training is useful because of the limited law enforcement presence in rural border areas.
