More than half of the Valley's school districts had a bond or an override on the ballot, and voters approved more than half of them.

Sixteen of the 26 education measures on the ballot in school districts across Maricopa County passed, including those in Cave Creek Unified, Litchfield Union and Tempe Elementary districts. The Madison School District in north-central Phoenix saw its $90 million, 10-year bond overwhelmingly approved.

“Regardless of the size of it, it will make so many improvements to the school and to the community, with a fine art center, with the rebuilt of different schools, that it will be money extremely well spent," Madison District Superintendent Quinn Kellis said.

Voters approved a $31.8 million bond for Mesa Public Schools, the largest school district in the state. District spokeswoman Helen Hollands said monies will go toward salaries and programs.

“We have some wonderful plans in place this years to really transform education in Mesa, and this will allow us to continue along that path at the pace that we would love to be able to continue on," she said.

Four school districts had two measures on the ballot. After failing to pass twice before, Scottsdale’s nearly $19 million override was approved.
