In a meeting this week, a presidential aide joked that Sen. John McCain’s opposition to Trump’s pick to head the CIA doesn’t matter because, “He’s dying anyway.”

McCain’s daughter Meghan responded Friday morning to the quip.

On her talk show, “The View,” Meghan McCain said she doesn’t understand how someone could make such a comment and keep their job.

But she focused on the positivity she’s experienced from others since her father was diagnosed last year with an aggressive form of brain cancer.

“Don’t feel bad for me or my family. We’re really strong,” she said. “There’s so much more love and prayer and amazing energy being generated towards us than anything negative at all.”

Sen. McCain, who spent 5-and-a-half years as a POW, opposes the nomination of Gina Haspel because of her involvement with an interrogation program after 9/11.

McCain says some of the tactics used were torture.
