An air conditioning company in Arizona that ignored the “Do Not Call” registry laws will pay for it now.  When the federal government enacted the “Do Not Call” registry in 2003, Arizona enacted its own law to protect all citizens from any unwanted solicitor.

The owners of Desert Valley Aire, Inc. not only ignored the law when people requested the air conditioning company take them off their call list, but in some instances their telemarketers told residents the law did not apply to them.

Attorney General Mark Brnovich took the company to court. The owners have agreed to pay $340,000 in civil fines to end the lawsuit, and will not be allowed to use telemarketing tactics for the next five years.

The penalty amounts to nearly $14 for every illegal call made.
