Arizona State University will house Sen. John McCain’s complete archives.

The archives include both professional and personal correspondence during McCain’s time as a U.S. representative, senator and presidential candidate.

ASU librarian Jim O'Donnell said the majority of the material is from McCain’s 2008 White House bid and he enjoyed seeing how correspondence in draft form became finalized.

“Sometimes there are documents in which he has scribbled things," he said. "So it’s fun but it’s also intellectually interesting to go through looking for the places where the personal touch is added to the professional documents that staff turn out.”

O’Donnell said the library is working on plans to open up the archive in the coming years for students, especially those studying contemporary American politics.
