Rainfall in parts of southern and central Yavapai County has been ongoing for several days. Robert Rickey from the National Weather Service said saturated soil increases the potential for flash floods, especially in areas burned by wildfires.

“The burned-scar areas are of a particular concern. Their soils don’t accept much water plus a lack of vegetation means that flash flooding is significantly increased in those areas,” said Rickey.

The saturated soil may pose a problem for a while, and a lot of the runoff has been sent downstream to the Agua Fria River.
