Eastbound I-40 will be closed at the I-17 interchange from 5 to 10 a.m. Saturday. Ryan Harding with ADOT said crews will be repairing damage caused by the heavy rain in Flagstaff this week.

“They got a lot of moisture earlier this week that kind of absorbed into the pavement there and just created a lot of potholes and other pavement problems there that drivers were experiencing as they moved through the area,” Harding said. 

Drivers heading eastbound on I-40 should plan on extra travel time, as they will detour onto southbound I-17 to exit J.W. Powell Boulevard and re-enter I-17 northbound to return to eastbound I-40.
