Spring training generated $644 million during the 2018 season, an 11 percent increase since 2015.

The study from the Arizona State University W.P. Carey School of Business also found the sport added $373 million for Arizona’s gross domestic product.

“Spring training generated locally for the state of Arizona here about 31.9 million in taxes,” said Cactus League president Jeff Meyer.

Meyer also said there will be changes coming to the league schedule. Spring training will start the third week of February, a week earlier than usual.
