George P. Bush will run for Texas land commissioner in 2014.

For months, there has been speculation surrounding what office Bush — the Latino nephew of one U.S. President and grandson of another — would go after.

Two months after submitting paperwork with the Texas Ethics Commission, which allowed him to raise money for state elections, he raked in $1.3 million.

This was a huge sum for a candidate who had yet to announce his official campaign run.

On Thursday, Bush unveiled his campaign as any savvy politician would — via Twitter:

Bush's tweet was referencing his conversation with the current land commissioner, Jerry Patterson, who plans to run for the lieutenant governor in 2014.

Bush also released a two-minute YouTube video:

Explaining why he decided to run for office, Bush may have foreshadowed a motif in his campaign, his dedication to his powerful family.
