Juarez Media Outlets Targeted In Shooting
EL PASO, Texas -- The offices of a newspaper and a television station in Ciudad Juarez were hit in a drive-by shooting early Wednesday morning. No one was injured.
At about 1 a.m. Wednesday morning security cameras captured a silver Dodge Caravan pulling up to the entrance of El Diario newspaper in Ciudad Juárez. Gunman opened fire, striking the glass doors multiple times. El Diario's website reported the story a few hours later and included pictures of the damage.
El Diario reports that about 15 minutes after their building was hit more gunfire stuck the outside of Canal 44, a local TV station.
Police hadn't determined a motive or made any arrests hours after the shootings.
On Sunday gunman murdered a reporter in the Mexican border town of Ojinaga, four hours southeast of Juárez. Since 2008, two reporters from El Diario have been killed when a wave of drug violence hammered the city.
Mexico is listed among the most dangerous countries for journalists with about 60 killings in the last six years.
