Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey called for immediate inspections of all Southwest Key facilities in the state last week after allegations of sexual abuse by some of its employees surfaced.

The facilities have recently been used to house migrant children who have been separated from their parents — but they've been licensed to operate in Arizona for years.

While they are contracted with the federal government, Southwest Key’s facilities are licensed under the Arizona Department of Health Services’ (ADHS) institution rules, so they have to meet baseline health and safety rules as set by the state.

Dr. Cara Christ is the director of ADHS, and her department has been carrying out those inspections. She joined The Show to talk about what her department is looking for in these inspections.
