PHOENIX -- Here’s a photo from the weekend as temperatures in Arizona kept inching down, down, down.

Some green-thumb was clearly worried about the sensitive tips of the organ pipe cactus in his Central Phoenix front yard.

Seventeen little white cups atop the stubby spires –- they may have kept the prickly plant from freezing overnight.

For all you outsiders, this is what we do in the Sonoran Desert when Arctic air loses its way and travels this far south.

What a strange concept winter is to us.
