Sewage continues to leak over the Mexico–Arizona border after nine days of attempts to contain it.

The raw sewage began leaking in Naco, Mexico and, on Sept. 9, spilled over the border onto properties north of the border in Arizona.

The leak was fixed, but Sonora inspectors report the diversion created another leak at another location and, as of Tuesday, there is no solution in sight.

The Cochise Environmental Health department said the drinking water is safe as they continue to treat the separate sewage water with chlorine tablets.

County Supervisors are working with state, federal and Mexican agencies to find solutions and will hold a town hall meeting later this week.
