The Maricopa County Community College District board held a work session Tuesday to help determine the future of a Mesa college campus.

Mesa Community College President Richard Haney presented the board with facts about the Red Mountain campus.

Red Mountain had 4,000 students last year, a majority in STEM programs.

The president said he thinks the campus needs more visibility and marketing to attract more students in far east Mesa.

The district said an appraisal valued the property at $38 million. If the campus were sold, the money may not all go back to the district because taxpayers passed a bond to help build the school.

Talks of a potential partnership with ASU at Red Mountain are on hold because of the uncertainty. No action was taken Tuesday.
