The number of people with lab-confirmed flu cases in Arizona is well below the number at this time last year, but still significantly above the five-year average.

The 2017-18 flu season was brutal: 80,000 people died — and about 1,178 of those deaths were in Arizona. Eighty percent of the children who died were unvaccinated.

The Arizona flu season can run all the way through May, and 5-year averages show the number of cases spike in early January and mid-February.
