In 2019, Maricopa County's Board of Supervisors plan to take action on resolving the 2018 election issues.

With 748 voting precincts in Maricopa County, Board of Supervisors Chair Steve Chucri called it a top priority heading into 2019.

"As to the fastest growing county for two consecutive years, how can we be more nimble and better at our elections process?'" asked Chucri.

Although Maricopa County was hamstrung in the primaries by computer malfunctions and long lines at the polls, he said he views it as both a county and statewide issue in need of legislative reforms.

Although more than 60 percent of Arizona's registered voters live in Maricopa County, Chucri pointed out that state lawmakers have a chunk of the oversight.

"They've got about 80 percent of the control," he said, "So, I think between the two you'll start to see some change coming."

The board begins the year with two public meetings Tuesday and Wednesday this week. So far, no elections discussions are scheduled.
