The first person sentenced under a new Arizona law aimed at wrong way freeway drivers is facing six years in prison.

Under the new law, authorities can charge an impaired wrong-way driver on the highway with a felony.

Jesus Ceja, 56, received the maximum sentence Tuesday after pleading guilty to an aggravated DUI. Police say Ceja’s blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit when he was arrested on U.S. 60 near Apache Junction last August. He was on probation at the time for another DUI violation.

Prosecutors say this was Ceja’s fifth DUI conviction.
