The former chief financial officer for the Scottsdale Unified School District has been indicted once again on charges of fraud and conflict of interest.

A grand jury indicted Laura Smith on 12 counts of fraud and conflict of interest, alleging Smith concealed that her sister owned a consulting company that did business with the district.

A judge previously granted a request from Smith’s attorney to set aside the initial indictment, ruling the state failed to include evidence that could have influenced the jury’s decision to indict Smith. The state did not present the grand jury with Smith’s job application, which disclosed her employment with the consulting company.

Smith plead not guilty on Monday, and a trial is set for October.
