Two East Valley cities are gearing up for events aimed at residents over the age of 50. They’re called "senior expos," and the events attract companies looking for new customers.

On Wednesday, the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts will be filled with vendors targeting the 50-plus market. From housing to health care and transportation to recreation, the event will feature free health screenings, demonstrations and entertainment.

Scottsdale says close to 40 percent of its residents are over the age of 50. Among cities with a population of over 100,000, Scottsdale says it has the nation’s largest percentage of citizens who are over the age of 65.
