State Legislative Session Starts

January 11, 2012

KJZZ's Mark Brodie and managing editor of the Arizona Guardian Dennis Welch sit down with Steve Goldstein to talk about the 2012 Legislative Session kicking off, and what the state can look forward to.

One topic that Brodie and Welch discuss is Governor Jan Brewer's wish to buy back the State Capitol by the centennial celebration. Welch says she doesn't want to be remembered as the governor that sold off the capitol, and has so far been defined by the economic crisis. Brodie says that it is symbolically a big deal to own the building on Arizona's 100th anniversary. They also discuss why election years impact the length of legislative sessions and which bills are being presented.
