Phoenix police Monday arrested a suspect who they said is responsible for multiple explosions in the North Valley.

Glendale resident Houston Willis. 44, was arrested on three felony counts of depositing of explosives and 15 additional counts related to the investigation of explosive devices, which residents first began reporting to police in October.

Phoenix Police Sgt. Crista McCarthy said the devices were of both an explosive and pyrotechnic nature. “Based on what we do know, they did have an explosive charge and a capacity to injure or hurt people as well as create property damage to anything they come in contact with.”

According to police, Willis was stopped on Jan. 6 after his vehicle was spotted near an explosion on that date.

He was released by Cactus Park precinct officers after he denied being involved.
