Country superstar Garth Brooks is headlining a sold-out concert Saturday night in Glendale — and it’s not the only big event taking place in the West Valley city that day.

Glendale is gearing up for as many as 100,000 visitors on Saturday, with about 70,000 fans expected for Garth Brooks’ sold out show at State Farm Stadium, the home of the Arizona Cardinals.

“Garth Brooks is not only going to be the biggest show that’s taken place at this stadium," said Andy Gorchov, State Farm Stadium's general manager. "But it’s also going to be the biggest show quite frankly in the history of the state of Arizona.”

Also taking place Saturday, adjacent to the stadium, is two Cirque de Soleli performances, as well as a ticketed tailgate for Brooks’ show hosted by his wife, country singer Trisha Yearwood.

Not far from the stadium is Camelback Ranch, which is hosting a spring training game Saturday afternoon as well.

Glendale Police Lt. David Vidaure is encouraging concert-goers to arrive in the early afternoon for the show.

“There’s plenty to do out here," Vidaure said. "There’s plenty of places to eat and dine. Many of the buildings are expanding their footprints to have more activities and to allow more guests into their restaurants.”

If planning travel from the East Valley, be advised that the Loop 101 is closed between Pima and Scottsdale roads on Saturday. Delays also are expected on Interstate 10 due to ongoing construction.
