May Road Closures Planned For Loop 202 Repairs

The Arizona Department of Transportation will be making freeway improvements next month that will cause a complete closure of portions of the Loop 202.

ADOT is repairing areas of worn pavement and conducting other maintenance on the Santan Freeway during the first two weekends in May.

The Loop 202 will be closed through Gilbert and Mesa from May 3 to May 6, for the section between Williams Field Road and the U.S. 60 Superstition Freeway.

From Friday May 10 at 10 p.m. until Monday May 13 at 3 a.m. — the Loop 202 will be closed through portions of Chandler. The Loop 101 Price Freeway will also be closed.

ADOT said the repairs are needed after a wet winter and heavy traffic. The city of Chandler is recommending travelers avoid the Santan Freeway during the projects and use surface streets, especially during Mother’s Day weekend.
