Phoenix Police Step Up Patrols Around Places Of Worship
Phoenix Police officers are increasing their patrols around houses of worship after a deadly shooting Saturday at a Powway, California synagogue killed one woman and injured at least three others.
Sgt. Luis Samudio said the department’s community relations bureau is taking lead.
“The Phoenix Police Department has maintained a great relationship with a lot of the faith-based. Part of our detectives in our community relations bureau work along with the faith-based organizations and update them with any details of information that might be a concern to their place of worship,” he said.
San Diego authorities arrested a 19-year old Southern California suspect, who turned himself in after the deadly shooting. In an online manifesto, the suspect wrote that he was inspired by the mosques shootings in New Zealand in March.
