One East Valley school district is still waiting for results from Tuesday’s election.

Chandler Unified School District believed they had won its override measure, but on Thursday, county election officials tell the district they are still counting ballots. Chandler school officials said they are perplexed since their school funding measure was a mail-in ballot only and the elections office had most of those ballots Monday before election.

Jim Bishop is chairman of the Yes For Chandler Students override committee.

“We thought being a mail-in only, if anything it would be decided a little earlier. So, obviously we’re a little optimistic. We have the lead now and that’s a good initial sign, but we’re hoping to see this reach a state of finalization here," Bishop said.

Maricopa County officials said the total count for Tuesday’s election will be completed by the end of business day Friday.
