Fronteras Desk Senior Field Correspondents Jude Joffe-Block and Kate Sheehy are spending this week reporting in El Salvador.
They are there to understand what is happening there in light of the tens of thousands of migrant children and families crossing the Southwest border in recent months.
One of the known drivers for this migration is gang violence. The newly elected Salvadoran president recently announced plans to address the country's security issues with a community policing approach.
Joffe-Block observed some of those policing strategies already in effect in the Salvadoran city of Santa Ana.
