Health care discussion tonight

February 15, 2012

A coalition of social service, community and health groups will host a meeting tonight, to talk about recent changes in health care in Arizona. From Phoenix, KJZZ’s Mark Brodie reports.

MARK BRODIE: The Marana Health Center will play host to the first Community Conversation on Health Care tonight. Matt Jewett, Director of Health Policy at Children’s Action Alliance, says health care facilities have downsized and closed in recent years, and Arizonans have suffered as a result.

MATT JEWETT: We really want to hear from people, whether it’s doctors and providers, whether it’s small business people, whether it’s patients, what are the issues that they have going on with health care? What do they want to see out of Arizona’s health care system? And, this is a forum for them to come and talk about that.

BRODIE: Jewett says many of the changes in health care are affecting rural parts of the state more than urban ones.
