Sweeping the streets in a south Phoenix neighborhood.

As we continue our celebration of the working life, we’re looking at the people who do the jobs that you sometimes don’t see or don’t think about.  We’re thinking about the jobs around the Phoenix area that might not be what you expect.

Today we step into a day on the job with street sweepers. You see them driving slowly on the freeways and in neighborhoods cleaning up dirt from the gutters. The trucks have two steering wheels and most operators drive on the right side of the vehicle.

We followed Jaime Garcia as we swept the streets in south Phoenix neighborhood on Lower Buckeye Road between 35th and 39th avenues.
