Caring for an aging parent at home has become a more routine occurrence across the United States. But it’s not as common for the child to be in their 20s while the parent is in their 80s or 90s.

For first-time filmmaker, Victoria Negri, this was her reality for several years of her early adulthood. Negri put her experience on screen in the film “Gold Star.”

Negri wrote, directed, produced and acted in the film that not only explores what it is like to be a young caretaker but also the emotions of anger and frustration she had suppressed while taking care of her father, who is played in the film by the late Robert Vaughn.

Negri talked more about her story and what it was like working with one of Hollywood’s legends.
