The state attorney general is punishing an Arizona-based carpet cleaning service for illegal telemarketing calls.

Attorney General Mark Brnovich has announced Adobe Carpet Cleaning is banned from making telemarketing calls for six years after repeatedly calling consumers on the “Do Not Call” registry.

Brnovich’s office believes thousands of illegal calls were made to Arizona families.

Mia Garcia is the spokesperson for the attorney general. She said Adobe will also pay the state $1 million in civil penalties.

"The money from the fines will go into the attorney general's office consumer protection and consumer fraud revolving fund, and that fund goes toward investigating and filing consumer fraud lawsuits against other illegal telemarketers," Garcia said.

Telemarketing and robocalls are the number one complaint the attorney general's office receives. Garcia said they are actively investigating quite a few cases.
