Drivers are often used to seeing gas prices rise prior to a holiday. But according to AAA, the opposite is the case for Independence Day as prices nationally and in Arizona are down substantially compared to a year ago.

Crews have been working on the project to widen and add flex lanes to an often congested part of Interstate 17 north of Phoenix. On Thursday, Arizona Department of Transportation officials released a video explaining how those flex lanes are actually going to work.
