Valley Fever Awareness Week started on Saturday with the goal of informing more people about the risk of the often-misdiagnosed illness and its impact on those of us who live in Arizona, especially Maricopa and Pinal counties.

Some members of Congress are even getting into the act, although Valley Fever is primarily a problem for residents of Arizona and the area in and around Bakersfield, Calif.

Dr. John Galgiani, director of the Valley Fever Center for Excellence at the University of Arizona. talked about fighting Valley Fever.
