A monarch butterfly.

There are fewer butterflies in the western U.S. now than in the past.

That’s among the findings of a new study, which used citizen scientists to help track the flying insects.

Monarch butterflies are among the affected species, as well the West Coast lady, among others.

Katy Prudic is an assistant professor in citizen and data science in the School of Natural Resources at University of Arizona. The Show spoke with her about how significant of a decline is happening.
