Arizona Employer Waste Management Offers To Pay College Costs For Workers’ Families

Waste Management says it employs more than 2,300 people across Arizona.

A survey by the employment website, Monster finds more than 80% of employers plan to hire this year. To attract and keep workers, Waste Management is providing new benefits.

The garbage collection, disposal and recycling company is now offering signing bonuses, flexible schedules and a new education program for employees and their families. 

Waste Management will extend educational opportunities at no cost to employees, including earning undergraduate and graduate degrees, short-form technology and business certificate programs, and high school completion. Later this year, the offer will extend to nearly 34,000 eligible dependents companywide, including spouses and children.

The education program, called Your Tomorrow, includes training programs that directly link to Waste Management’s needs and develop internal career pathways, focused mainly on business, technology, science and mathematics. University of Arizona is among the learning providers.

“Your Tomorrow supports the reskilling and retention of existing talent, while also helping to attract new talent, to equip the business with a skilled workforce for the future and further position WM as an employer of choice,”  Tamia Oates-Forney, chief people officer said in a news release.

Waste Management said it has more than 2,365 employees working at 37 sites across Arizona. The company will hold job fairs in Phoenix and throughout North America  on May 21 and 22.
