Federal authorities say a $1.2 million health care fraud accusation brought against a Chandler couple is part of a national crackdown worth $1.4 billion.

The Justice Department says nationally nearly 140 people have been charged with health-care-related crimes such as telemedicine fraud.

Dale and Zoila Henson of Chandler have pleaded not guilty to charges like identity theft, money laundering and wire fraud.

Court records say the FBI began investigating them on suspicion of swindling the Arizona Medicaid system before the pandemic started.

Prosecutors have also accused the Hensons of lying on applications to get emergency loans related to the pandemic.

The feds alleged in court documents that all or most of the millions of dollars moving through the couple’s bank accounts in recent years were made illegally.
