The Salvation Army's Maryvale center had only raised 26% of its goal for the season when thieves broke in and stole two laptop computers and $500.

Every holiday season, the Salvation Army ramps up its efforts to raise money with its red kettle campaign.

The group’s Maryvale center had only raised 26% of its goal for the season when thieves broke in and stole two laptop computers and $500.

They also tried to break into a storage shed. Police have no suspects at this time and nobody was injured during the break-in.

Scott Johnson, a spokesman with the Salvation Army, said that the Valley is usually generous during the holidays and the Center hopes to rebound.

“They are really hoping that the community will step up especially with this little $500 backslide,” Johnson said.
