Parts of Maricopa County could see isolated showers through at least Friday.

National Weather Service meteorologist Sean Benedict said a monsoon pattern that caused flooding and damage in the southeast Valley on Wednesday remains active.

“We did have some outflows come up from the south," Benedict said. "And those were able to generate some pretty strong thunderstorms in parts of the southeast Valley like Chandler, Gilbert and up through Mesa. And those storms were nearly stationary so they were able to produce a lot of rainfall.”

Benedict said it’s difficult to forecast where the next summer storm will occur.
