A lot of young people wear hoodies, even outside on the season’s hottest days.

As we know very well here in the desert, summer temperatures — even with a little relief during monsoons — are very high.

From a wardrobe standpoint, that means most of us want to wear shorter sleeves or lighter styles from May until September.

But you may have noticed a lot of young people going against conventional wisdom and wearing hoodies, even outside on the season’s hottest days. And that has generated some debate on social media.

Marshall Shepherd is a University of Georgia professor and meteorologist, and he penned a recent Forbes column on wearing hoodies in the heat. The Show spoke with Shepherd about it.
