How Valleywise Health is handling the 'tripledemic' influx of sick kids

As the “tripledemic” continues, hospitals around the Valley are taking the brunt.

And that’s especially true when it comes to kids — and pediatric emergency rooms that are filling up at a rapid pace.

Kids are more likely to get seriously sick from the flu, RSV and COVID-19, all of which are seeing skyrocketing rates in our community right now. So what does an influx of sick kids look like on the frontlines? And what can we all do to help alleviate the stress on our medical system?

For that and more, The Show spoke with Kali Davis, a nurse and clinical practice educator in Valleywise Health’s pediatric emergency department and ICU, the county’s largest safety-net hospital.
