The first batch of titles for the Chandler International Film Festival have been released.

Mark Stewart, member of the Chandler City Council and a film festival Board representative, said over 120 films from more than 35 countries will be featured.

“We take submissions from every walk of life and every genre. So, I think that’s what makes it exciting because there’s something at the festival for anyone. There’s shorts. There’s cultural genres. There’s thrillers, documentaries, everything you can think of," Stewart said. 

In addition to the films, there are lots of events surrounding screenings of them.  

“We have a huge red carpet event. We have a huge closing ceremony. There are night after parties. There are workshops for budding producers, directors, actors and actresses. There’s the ability to rub elbows with actors. This year we have Rob Schneider that’s going to be in attendance,” said Stewart.  

Arizona-related films include “Reflect,” which was shot in Sedona and directed by Los Angeles-based Dana Beth Kippel. She joins a handful of state-based filmmakers whose movies will be screened, including “ID” directed by Kiran Kondamadugula based in Chandler, “The Monster Inside Me” directed by Tony C. Silva based in Phoenix, “Walkout” directed by Rob Smat based in Phoenix, and “Eyes Upon Waking” directed by Timothy Zwica based in Tucson.

The festival runs Jan. 21-29 and will celebrate 110 years of Indian cinema.
