A new survey says 20% of business travelers plan to take more trips this year than they did before the pandemic. The findings are based on national Hotel Booking Index survey research commissioned by the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AHLA) and conducted by Morning Consult.

Nearly 70% of business travelers said their employers have either returned to pre-pandemic levels or increased travel. More than half of those surveyed expect budgets and the number of trips to stay about the same.

When it comes to “bleisure,” that’s blending business and leisure, slightly less than half said they had extended business trips in the last year for leisure purposes.

AHLA’s Hotel Booking Index (HBI) for the next three months is 7.1, which is considered very good. The HBI 10-point score is based on a weighted average of survey respondents’ travel likelihood in the next three months (50%), self-reported household financial security (30%), and a preference to stay in hotels for travel (20%).
