An agreement signed in early April says Phoenix police have to let the city’s independent oversight office see evidence related to internal investigations.

But information requested by the Office of Accountability and Transparency has yet to be delivered.

More than two years have gone by since Phoenix began setting up independent police oversight.

Now with a dozen staffers, the Office of Accountability and Transparency is monitoring 30 cases that are also under review by the police department’s internal affairs bureau.

A city spokesman says the oversight office has requested information from the police department regarding those cases, but the police department is still compiling the data.

The evidence sharing agreement says the police department has to fulfill requests from the oversight office within a reasonable amount of time and promptly tell the oversight office if requested info is unavailable.
