How lawmakers are protecting kids from social media, spending too much time online

Studies detailing the harms kids can face by spending too much time online, especially on social media, have been getting the attention of state lawmakers across the country.

And Austin Jenkins says if 2023 is any indication, there’s a lot of energy and momentum behind efforts by states to deal with this issue, which should carry over into next year.

Jenkins is a staff writer for Pluribus News, which covers emerging trends in states and state Legislatures nationally, and has written about this.

He joined The Show to talk about the different approaches states are taking to make it so kids under 18 are not using or seeing things on social media that are not appropriate for them.
