Scottsdale will consider a water intergovernmental agreement with Rio Verde community
Scottsdale City Council members will soon deliberate a proposed intergovernmental agreement to provide water to the Rio Verde Foothills Standpipe District.
The council is scheduled to meet Tuesday to consider the logistics of the agreement.
According to a release from the city, the proposal stipulates Scottsdale will not use its own water to supply up to 750 Rio Verde Foothills customers, many of whose water was cut off earlier this year.
Since then, an Arizona Senate bill that created a temporary compromise between Scottsdale and residents of Rio Verde Foothills was passed and signed by Gov. Katie Hobbs in June.
Under that agreement, a temporary water agency will negotiate water sales between Scottsdale and Rio Verde Foothills for the next three years.
