More older adults are in the hospital with COVID across U.S., insurer says

Humana mainly covers people ages 65 and older, who rank among the populations susceptible to the virus’s most serious effects.
COVID cases have been growing globally.
The U.S. has seen a growth in people admitted for COVID of almost 16% over the past week, with medium to high hospitalizations in scattered counties in central, southern and eastern states and across Florida.
Hospitalization numbers have remained low in Arizona: COVID-like and influenza-like illnesses accounted for only 1-2% of admissions since mid-May, with a spike in mid-August to 2.4%.
Experts recommend people blunt the impact of emerging subvariants by keeping current on COVID boosters.
