Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs, a social worker, was joined by law enforcement leaders and community advocates to recognize October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month on Oct. 3, 2023.
Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs has signed a proclamation recognizing October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month and an executive order continuing her office’s Commission to Prevent Violence Against Women.
The order states the commission will work with entities to increase awareness and improve the response to sexual and domestic violence.
Tonya Hamilton, the CEO of the Governor’s Office of Youth, Faith and Family, supported the order.
"From prevention efforts to resources and assured victim safety, as well as services to support individuals on a path of healing, all of your efforts are critical and valued," Hamilton said.
The commission will be reviewed at the end of next year for continuation.
