Phoenix had 133 days with high temperatures at or above 100 degrees in 2023.

Phoenix hit triple-digit high temperatures on 133 days this year. That’s the third-highest total ever recorded. Only 2020 and 1989 tallied more days that hot.

On average, Phoenix gets about 111 days per year at or above 100 degrees. That means Phoenix had an extra three weeks of triple digits this year.

Twelve days passed the century mark during the month of October, which is unusual. On average, Phoenix’s latest 100 degree day falls around Oct. 5.

But National Weather Service Meteorologist Jessica Leffel said the latest in the year Phoenix has ever hit 100 degrees was Oct. 27, back in 2016.

“Luckily, we’ve got a low pressure system that will allow us to stay around the low- to mid-eighties for this week, so we’ll likely not break that record," Leffel said.

Leffel said it’s safe to assume Phoenix is done with triple-digits for 2023.
